Thanks Clare!
I just finished my Level 2 class and test, I believe I passed! But now it gets serious!!
Level 3 is 16 weeks with test. Then the diploma class would follow as ling as I pass 3 first! My understanding is the diploma class takes about 3 years, 6 different levels.
They meet once a week, thats why its a long process! It would be in…[Read more] -

Monforte d’Alba has 2 great places. Barolo Bar right in centro is a great place for lunch, drinks and just to hang out, I believe they do dinner too! Great wine list and apps!!
The other place is up the hill past the church, Case della Saracca. this place opens at 5:30 with a full (FREE) spread on their bar. Great food! A very nice BAROLO by the…[Read more] -

With regards to the Uffizi & Accademia you want to book your tickets ahead of time to avoid waiting in a long queue. We’ve gotten tickets in the past from here http://www.tickitaly.com/
The downtown Florence car rental is definitely the easiest. We’ve done this several times. To get really great rates, try autoeurope.com. We’ve always gotten…[Read more]

We were just in the Langhe this past November (as well as May 2012). This last trip we visited many producers. Our favorites included Oddero and Silvio Grasso in La Morra; Cavalotto and Paolo Scavino in Castiglione Falletto; GD Vajra in Barolo; and Sottimano in Nieve. All spectacular wines and fabulous people.
There are some really fan…

So to let you know how it worked out… The MBE in Alba is super easy to find!!! We found the one in Bra as well (its on the same street as Boccondivino – the Slow Food restuarant). The wine shipper, box and tape costs us 10 euro.
Originally I didn’t think about a magic marker to write on the box but was able to find one in a shop in Bologna.…

We are heading to The Langhe and Emilia for 2 weeks in November. Probably are last trip to the north for awhile cause we want to start exploring the south!
This trip would be our 5/50 trip. Five years married this May 14 and the 50 well I would rather not say. So, its a pretty special trip we been thinking about for awhile!
So with that being…[Read more]

I think I’m going to try and add the Brussel sprouts! That sounds amazing! Your right about winter greens. Probably why I hated them so much as a kid – they’re just nasty all boiled down!

A few weeks ago we were at a restaurant in New York and had an amazing kale salad. After asking a couple questions about it and looking up some recipes online, we found a combination that most closely matched the […]

The restaurant is Undici in Rumson, NJ. They do these dinners pretty regularly. Many times they have the producer there to talk about the wines and the estates. All the wines are for sale too at pretty decent prices. I do love the Roero Arneis, the label is creepy but in a cool kind of way! The Tasting…

Yesterday we had the privilege of meeting Andrea Sottimano at a local wine shop here at the Jersey Shore. We tasted 4 of his wines. It was great talking to Andrea about Piemonte as we visited last May. We were […]

I agree with Clare on all the wines. But the 2 Barolos we tasted were very different. The 2008 Castiglione was very good, we had it before and its very well balanced! As far as the 2003 Lazzarito was bolder and […]
