Burlotto Verduno Pelaverga 2016

$14.00

GUARANTEED BEST PROVENANCE: IMPORTED FROM ITALY BY AIR AND STOCKED IN CALIFORNIA

Sometimes a wine is so popular I simply can’t get access to it here in the US. When that happens, I do what any tenacious wine-geek would do — I get it direct from Italy.

And so it goes with Fabio Alessandria’s fabulous Verduno Pelaverga 2016.

Everybody who has tasted Fabio’s wine craves this vino rosso. It’s made from the quirky but very fun Pelaverga grape grown on Fabio’s Verduno estate just north of La Morra in Piedmont.

Light-bodied with a captivating melange of red cherries, crabapple, hints of red roses, a touch of clove and allspice – This is delicious stuff, very fresh and the best provenance you’ll find (unless you go visit Fabio at his cantina).

You could pair up Fabio’s Pelaverga with lighter autumn food fare, like grilled pork chops or roast chicken, but I’d just grab a bunch of friends and start pouring while passing ’round a plate full of sliced prosciutto and hunks of pecorino cheese.
