The 2011 Monprivato by Giuseppe & Figlio Mascarello is a delicious, medium-bodied Barolo that’s drinkable now and should do well in your cellar for another 15 to 20 years.
On the nose, ripe cherries, tobacco, and dried mint invite you in to taste. On the palate, the cherries predominate with hints of plum, anise and dried rose with pleasing tannins. It’s a great wine to pull out with friends over a nice meal of grilled beef steaks, roasted bird, or a classic plate of risotto al Barolo.
Monprivato fans will be happy to know that this wine has the best provenance, and flown directly from Barolo.
