Val delle Corti Chianti Classico 2008

$29.00

It was Roberto’s 2008 Chianti Classico that got me hooked on Val delle Corti wines. I blame my addiction on Ernest Ifkovitz over at Portovino, who has a penchant for groovy Tuscan wines.

Produced from lovingly tended Sangiovese vines high up in the Radda mountains, this delicious (and big) Chianti Classico is full of black cherry, blackberries, anise, hints of vanilla and warm baking spices. There’s an herbal note that is delicious, and is well balanced with just the right level of acidity.

Roberto’s 2008 Chianti pairs well with good friends over a fine Tuscan-style meal. I’d pair a bottle up with grilled beef steaks, pork sausages with polenta, or any pasta dish with red sauce (Spaghetti Bolognese works fine). You just can’t go wrong with Val delle Corti Chianti and classic Tuscan food fare.
