I first tasted Fabio’s Viridis Sauvignon with my fellow Somm friends at his cantina in October last year, armed with a healthy dose of skepticism. We’re in the land of glorious Barolo, and we’re tasting Sauv Blanc?
Man, were we blown away.
Fabio makes just 150 cases of this stunning stuff, and close to zero bottles make it to the US and none on the west coast — until now.
Delicious and refreshing, Viridis 2016 is fruit-forward and brimming with lemon, green apple, grapefruit zest and green herbs, with crisp acidity that is such a pleasure. Sauvignon Blanc fans (especially New Zealand fans) will swoon over this — and only the lucky few will get to drink it.
My shipment is one-time-only (Fabio sells 99% of his Viridis Langhe Sauvignon in Italy), and my Somm friends have already bought up half of it. I’m limiting to just 12 bottles per person so I can share the Viridis love.
