Getting Cinque Terre wines to the USA is nearly impossible. Until now.
Cinque Terre (how to say it) fans will swoon over this one. After working some magic, I've arranged to fly over just a few cases of the Cinque Terre Co-op's delicious 2016 vintage of the Costa da' Posa cru. After tasting all 3 of their cru wines last June, this is my favorite.
Costa da' Posa opens with pineapple and a touch of starfruit on the nose, then transforms on the palate with more tropical fruit, the characteristic lemon, and a hint of fresh Mediterranean herbs. The salty minerality representative of this coastal area comes through, and the wine has bracing acidity that is made for the local food.
This Cinque Terre DOC cru pairs nicely with a fritto misto (fried fish & crustaceans) or a bowl of herby spaghetti alla scarpara. It's also the bomb with pesto dishes.

If you need visual inspiration for why you just have to taste this wine, watch the Cantina's video.
Note: Since this Cinque Terre DOC Cru wine is so hard to get in the US, I'm doling it out 12 bottles max per person. Sharing is caring!
