Ezio Cerruti’s tiny production Sol is the perfect dessert wine.
This is a lustful Moscato from grapes naturally dried on the vine, then aged for 36 months in barrels where the wine transforms into a sweet nectar that is not cloying, rather is fresh and savory and balanced.
Ezio’s Sol is sweetly subdued on the nose, but thunders onto the palate with orange blossom, dried apricots, browned butter, agave syrup, acacia honey, and saffron. The finish is endless.
Very little of Ezio’s stunning “vin di garage” natural wine is produced from his 7 hectares of Moscato Bianco vineyards in Castiglione Tinella, just a few thousand 375 ml bottles each year. It’s nearly impossible to find here in the States. Until now.
