Conterno makes powerful Barbera wines that are truly world-class wines. You pay more for these wines than other Barbera wines from the region, and after one taste you’ll understand why.
The 2015 Barbera d’Alba from their Serralunga Francia vineyard continues the legacy of big, mineral-driven Barbera. I really like the 2015 vintage, it was a superb year and this bottle delivers. You’ll find black fruits and red cherries, baked plum, some herbal notes and a touch of anise. There’s plenty of minerality and the acidity is balanced. The 2015 release is masculine and powerful.
I love to pair Conterno Barbera with rich and fatty dishes, like an insalata di carne cruda (think steak tartare), lamb stew, grilled veal chops, or even barbecued baby-back ribs.
