Giuseppe, or “Citrico” (the “citric one” for his rather acerbic personality) shows off what’s possible with the Brunate Cru & ultra-traditional methods (no French oak here, baby). Cherry, rose & menthol on the nose, and dark cherry fruit with tobacco, cocoa and crushed gravel on the palate make this a sensory delight.
Remarkably, I find Beppe’s 2012 Brunate approachable now — dark, rich and delicious for being so young. You will likely want to lay this down for a while and check back in 2019.
