The legend of the Benevento witches is deeply rooted in the local food and wine making culture in this corner of Campania, just an hour’s drive out of Naples.
Carlo and Filomena Iacobucci (YAH-koh-boo-chee) take enchanted inspiration in their Terre Stregate (“bewitched land”) to craft the best Falanghina (fah-lahn-GEE-nah) white wine in all of Campania.
The Iacobucci’s Falanghina is a Gambero Rosso 3 Glass winner, year after year, and 2015 is no different. Lemons and limes, red delicious apples, star fruit and a touch of pineapple all come through on the nose and palate, with very pleasing acidity. This really is a great value wine.
I’d pair this with pan-seared salmon, grilled mackerel, even some poké that would pull out the tropical notes.
