The legend of the Benevento witches is deeply rooted in the local food and wine making culture in this corner of Campania, just an hour’s drive out of Naples.
Carlo and Filomena Iacobucci (YAH-koh-boo-chee) take enchanted inspiration in their Terre Stregate (“bewitched land”) to craft the best Falanghina (fah-lahn-GEE-nah) white wine in all of Campania.
This is a gorgeous, golden hued wine bursting with yellow apples and lemon and verbena on the nose. On the palate it’s rich and mouth filling with baked yellow apple, mixed citrus and lime peel, and a touch of banana. I pair it with pan-seared salmon, grilled mackerel, even some poké that would pull out the tropical notes.
Carlo’s awesome white is a Gambero Rosso 3 Glass winner and earned the Best Value prize for 2016.
