This tiny-production and extraordinary Etna Rosso is produced exclusively from Nerello Mascalese grapes grown at 2100 feet above sea level on the northern slopes of Mount Etna. With just 3,500 bottles produced in a good year, this is a rare wine indeed.
The volcanic soil in this area is a deep rusty-black color, testament to the millennia of eruptions that have shaped this profound landscape. To say that minerality gets into the wine would be an understatement.
Bruno Ferrara Sardo is a natural winemaker who has overseen his 50-year old vines ever since he was a young boy. Bruno works tirelessly using only natural methods to manage the vineyard and produce wines that show off what loving attention to detail can taste like.
I have extremely limited availability of this wine; if you want to try an unmatched Etna Rosso from one of the most promising producers in Sicily, don’t delay.
