Elio Ottin gets top awards year-after-year for his 4 flagship wines (this Pinot Noir, his Torrette Superieur, Fumin and the delightful white Petit Arvine). I was lucky to be able to get his wines, direct from his cantina, upon release after tasting them just last summer.
His Pinot Noir is done in a more Burgundian style, with scents and flavors of bright red fruits like cherries and raspberries, light tannins and with a healthy acidity you would expect from a high elevation wine. While the influence of France can be sensed, this is truly an Italian wine.
